What should be new is new; what should be old is old
One of our Guests once remarked of our property, “What should be new is new; what should be old is old.” Truly, we have sought to restore the many period details of this English cottage-inspired 1927 river home. Nonetheless, we understand folks want modern conveniences…so, all of the kitchen appliances have been replaced, as has the gas grill, home entertainment, and other such items that…ought to be new. But we have kept the period bathroom fixtures and updated the hardware. Some of the original lighting fixtures have been restored, whereas period-inspired fixtures have been installed elsewhere. Restoration is our goal; comfort is our guarantee.

Technology merged with idyllic, period style
Blending period style with new technology is our passion. Period lighting with smarthome integration – including timers and Alexa voice control – can be found in the main living area. The Mira screen signage display rotates a themed slideshow of stylized property-inspired photographs, Gatsby-related images, and Guest contributions, combined with weather and other content. The updated 2017 Hotspring Spa is set in a Italianesque patio with statuary and cabana-striped cushioned seating reminiscent of a bygone era. Bring your smartphone – but plan on putting it away, too!

Hotel quality linens and multiple Guest amenities.
We use high quality linens, towels, and bedding, including pillow-topped mattresses that makes our beds a heavenly delight. Duvet covers are fresh for each Guest. We feature Beekman 1802 “Cultivate a Better Life” bath amenities and other Guest items such as Neutrogena make-up remover towelettes, fresh cotton balls / cotton-tipped swabs, personal disposal bags, and 4-ounce paper cups in our baths. An OTC medicine supply is provided for overnight needs that can’t wait until a morning trip to the drugstore. Our 1920s cast-iron tub is outfitted with a stainless steel grab bar for safe transfers. A host of baby/kid amenities are provided on request. And we feature a Peloton Cycle for Guest use, to keep you active from our elevated River-facing Sunroom.

Professional Vacation Rental (VR) cleaning
We have retained cleaners who understand and maintain the highest standards of the VR industry, so you can expect a clean, hotel-like arrival. Mid-stay cleans are available on request for a modest charge.

Design and features aimed at Your experience
We love our home! But in maintaining and improving our property, we have had YOU in our thoughts! We have designed indoor and outdoor features with the vacationing Guest in mind, so inside you can expect a fully stocked kitchen, extra blankets and pillows in the bedrooms, a vintage-inspired floor fan in every room, multiple power strips and USB charging outlets throughout, and stocked firewood for the indoor and patio outdoor fireplaces. Outdoors you can expect multiple seating and lounging areas, a romantic moonlit gazebo, 5 running water features, and one of the most idyllic floating docks in place on the River, from which you can take a kayak trek or simply enjoy the aviary and aquatic life on one of our Adirondacks. Be careful – time flies when taking in the River!

Customer service
After careful consideration, we decided to take the management of our vacation property into our own hands, because no one is more dedicated to your vacation experience than we are. We are assisted by a top-notch, experienced VR cleaning team, a weekly landscaper, and a weekly Spa maintenance service. We utilize a number of cutting-edge VR property management platforms simultaneously to ensure Guests have a smooth, 5-Star experience. Of course, we are available 24/7 either electronically -- by phone or in person, as needed. Our Guests are asked to complete an online survey after their rentals, through which candid feedback is sought; all reasonable suggestions are taken seriously, and the property is improved during the season as feasible. More sizable projects are undertaken in the off-season – coming up: a larger, outdoor firepit feature set among our orchard, and an outdoor gym. We truly value our Guests’ feedback!

Under the “Guest Services” menu of our website is located the “Swag” page: there you will find a link to our merchandising site, where Gatsby-themed items will be available for sale. For now this includes our signature Bistro mug, which can be purchased online for shipping, or taken home during your stay from our in-home inventory. Look out for new arrivals.

Coming Soon!
• In 2018 we will complete our “River Shower” project – this is a shower facility originally constructed in the 1920’s for cleaning up after a river romp. We are making it functional 90 years later!
• We also are developing an array of Concierge Services to offer our Guests on request. These will include massage, yoga classes, a painting class, chef-prepared meals, and other offerings from the plethora of ‘West County’ service providers and professionals.
